At the Breast Center of Fort Bend we provide comprehensive care for your breast concerns — including treatment for breast infections, breast lumps, breast pain and breast cancers.
Not all breast lumps are cancer.
Whenever a woman or her doctor finds a lump or change in the breast, the first concern is cancer. While not all lumps are cancer (in fact, most aren’t) the surgeons at the Breast Center of Fort Bend will counsel you on your personal risk of cancer and, when necessary, perform or arrange for a biopsy to determine if a lump is benign (not cancer) or malignant (cancer or sometimes pre-cancer).
In addition to office consultations, we offer in-office, minimally invasive, ultrasound-guided breast biopsies. Many breast lumps, including those that cannot be felt, can been seen and diagnosed by ultrasound. This allows for a rapid, minimally invasive, relatively painless procedure to provide you a diagnosis as quickly and accurately as possible.
After your biopsy, we will counsel you about the meaning of the results and what, if anything, needs to be done next. For many patients with benign breast problems, a few rechecks are all that are necessary. For breast cancer patients, we offer a strong referral network of local oncologists, radiation oncologists and plastic surgeons of the highest quality for your comprehensive care.
Some breast lumps cannot be biopsied by ultrasound guided breast biopsy. The surgeons at the Breast Center of Fort Bend can provide rapid access to the operating room for surgical biopsies, or referral to a radiologist for stereotactic (mammogram-guided) biopsy.
